WWII Nazi General von Falkenhausen Signed Letter
WWII Nazi General von Falkenhausen Signed Letter. General Alexander von Falkenhausen was a German general during WWII who was appointed as the military governor of Belgium and Northern France in 1940. Before being recalled to Germany, he served as an advisor to Chiang Kai-Shek, leader of the Republic of China, and helped to train the Chinese Army as well as plan battles against the Japanese, Germany’s future ally. He was known for being kind and sympathetic to the people living under his jurisdiction, much to the disdain of his superiors and the SS. He was sentenced to 12 years of hard labor for deporting Jews under orders from the SS. Signature is clear and visible, letter has slightly faded but legible handwriting. Letter is dated 1966. Embroidered initials on napkin clear and distinct, napkin has no damage or loose stitching. Good condition. From the Michael Clifton collection.
