This is a very fine example of an all original later Mauser production Mauser luger that has all matching numbers including the aluminum base magazine. These late production lugers have been called "Black Widow" P.08 Lugers primarily due to the late dark blue/black salt finish produced during this time frame. These models also exhibited the start of the "P.08" frame markings on the left side of the pistol. The top of the chamber is dated "41" and the toggle is marked "byf", the new war time code for the Mauser factory. The right side of the barrel extension is marked with the double "Eagle 655" Waffenamt proof next to the single eagle firing proof, which is also marked on the left side of the barrel. The underside of the barrel is also marked with the matching serial number, along with the bore marking of "8,83". It has the correct "GESICHERT and "GELADEN" markings. As noted, this model has the all dark blue/black metal finish with checkered walnut grips. Numbered in the military style with the full serial number on the major parts. It is complete with one all blued, matching milled magazine that is marked on the sides with "fxo/eagle 37/P.08" markings with aluminum base with the reinforcing pin through the center, numbered on the bottom, "4475r +".
BBL: 4 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 9 mm Luger
Finish: blue
Grips: walnut checkered
Serial Number: 4475r
Condition: Very fine with 75% original wartime blue/black finish remaining with wear and finish loss on all the edges and high spots. The right frame rail also exhibits a small area of minor pin-prick pitting, typically from sitting in a holster. The walnut grips are in good to very good condition overall with a nice matching dark brown color on both grip panels, with even honest wear across the tops of the checkering with a couple of minor pressure dents, however there are no cracks or damage. As noted, this luger has all matching numbers to include the magazine. A very nice example of an honest all original matching luger just showing actual field use.
