WWII Japanese Type 14 Nambu Semi-Automatic Pistol, #58896, 8mm Nambu cal., 4.75" barrel, blued finish, Type 14 marking in kanji, dated Showa 19.9 (Sept. 1944), Torimatsu factory of Nagoya Arsenal markings, rough machined finish, late coarse checkered round cocking knob, all visible numbers matching except magazine, drift adjustable blade front sight and fixed integral rear sight with small square notch, safety lever, lanyard loop, grooved wood grips, and one blued steel magazine with pot metal base. Condition is good retaining approx. 70% thinning war-time original finish, with wear at the top of the barrel chamber area, rear of slide from firing, sides of slide are thinning to brown, typical round scratches on slide at the safety lever that extend to the left wood grip. Front and rear grip straps are thinning to light brown, as is the front of the trigger guard. Barrel bore shows some bright areas with light frosting that may improve greatly with a good cleaning. Action, hold open, and safeties all function properly. Grips show age, darkening, light scratches, and minor chips at the top, but fit well; grip screws show wear on the finish with clean slots. Magazine shows wear from use, light pitting mostly on one side, and age darkening to the base. Est.: $600-$800. (C&R/PPT)
