These swords were worn by officers in the Army, Cavalry, and Navy to denote their rank. This beautiful sword has a brass hilt adorned with cherry blossoms and a ribbed wood grip. The unsharpened, tempered, high carbon steel blade has an acid etched wavy yakiba/ hamon running the length of the entire length of the blade (see photos). The nickel plate scabbard is complete, and does have some oxidation. The sword measures 39.5" in the scabbard and has a 23.5" blade.
