WWII German M35 Steel Helmet, with Afrika Korps Camouflage Paint, marked "ET64" and "3827" around the rim. Rivet style vent holes on either side. Early aluminum liner band with square chinstrap lugs, maker marked and dated 1938. No liner, padding, or chinstrap remaining. Outside is painted a dark yellow orange color with sand mixed in the paint to create a rough textured finish over the original dark green color, typical of the helmets that saw use in North Africa. Army eagle decal is not visible at all. Tri-color shield decal shows one tiny bit of red where the orange paint has worn off. Inside is painted the original dark green color. Liner rivets match the orange over paint. Condition is good, the outer surface showing wear, chips, scratches, and losses to the orange over paint, and scratches in the original dark green paint down to rusted bare metal. The inside shows a reddish orange rust patina in the top below the liner band, wear and age to the remaining original paint around the inside rim area, oxidation and corrosion to the aluminum liner band, with some rust stains transferred from the metal of the helmet. Would display nicely. Est.: $500-$900.
