WWII German Army Officer's Dagger, with Knot, 10.25" double-edged blade, maker marked with the etched Eickhorn squirrel logo, oak leaf decorated pommel, and eagle cross guard. The light orange grip is for a Luftwaffe 2nd Model dagger and has a thin steel shim under the pommel to make it fit. Grip is tight on the blade tang. Oak leaf band at bottom of grip, with worn silver bullion knot around the grip. No scabbard. Condition is good, as noted with the wrong grip fitted, shim added, and some chipping to the top of the grip. Blade is bright and in very nice condition, with a nice clear maker's mark. Original leather blade washer is present. Cross guard and pommel fittings show a dark aged patina and are in good condition. Grip has the original spongy wire wrapping, shows soiling and wear, and chipping at the top. Knot shows heavy wear to the cord and slider, with wear on the acorn. Est.: $200-$300.
