WWII ERA JAPANESE ARMY PARADE SABER FOR A CADET.
This diminutive saber measures 27 3/4" overall with an 18 1/2" blade. There is a faux irregular hamon at the ha and a brass habaki. The gilded brass hilt resembles an Army Parade saber with small 10-petal cherry blossoms. Wire-wrapped sharkskin grip. Plated saya. CONDITION: blade has some spots of discoloration. Hilt retains traces of original gilding. Grip is 80% complete, and wire is 100%. Saya has a few scattered dents & a small loss of plating near the drag. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox. (02-18434/BF). $200-400.
