This is a nice late-production 1939 dated luger manufactured by the Mauser factory. The chamber area is marked "1939" with the wartime code of "42" marked on top of the front toggle. The right side of the barrel extension has the early double "eagle/63" proofs next to the single Nazi eagle firing proof. Both sides of the barrel have a single small firing proof as well as the left side of the breechblock. Visible numbers matching. The upper safety area and extractor are marked "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN" respectively. The magazine is type three WWII model with the blued magazine body with the "fxo/eagle 37/P.08" markings on the side with the black plastic unmarked base. This series of luger has the all salt blue metal finish with checkered walnut grips.
BBL: 4 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 9 mm Luger
Finish: blue
Grips: walnut checkered
Serial Number: 5012s
Condition: Very fine as partially refinished (cold blue on grip straps and holster wear points) with 90% of the original blue finish remaining on the balance with wear on the edges and high spots overall. The blue finish on the sides and top area of the barrel extension also shows some thinning mixed with a purplish tint. The grips are in near excellent condition with nice distinct checkering overall with some minor wear across the tops and front edges of the diamonds, with a couple of minor nicks with no cracks or damage. The luger has all matching numbers except the magazine as noted above.
