Manufactured 1917, this pistol was one of 500 shipped to the commanding Officer at Springfield Armory on October 16, 1917. The left side of the slide is marked with the two line, two block 1897-1913 patent dates and address, with the Rampant Colt behind the serrations, the left side of the frame is marked with the circled "GHS" inspection mark of Major Gilbert H. Stewart, "MODEL OF 1911.U.S.ARMY" is marked on the right side of the slide and the serial number is on the right side of the frame. The barrel chamber and hammer slot are marked "P" and "H" respectively. The barrel is marked with a "C" and "G" ahead of the lug. Fixed sights, Lanyard ring on the heel, unmarked two-tone magazine with a Lanyard loop on the bottom and fitted with checkered walnut grips with diamond pattern around the screws.

Condition: Fine. The metal surfaces have 30% blue with the balance a smooth mottled gray patina with traces of original blue finish in the protected area around the slide stop and upper right grip panel, and most of the original blue finish remains on the trigger, slide stop and thumb safety. The grips are very fine with some wear, dings and crisp checkering. The markings remain clear and crisp. Mechanically excellent.
