Manufactured 1917. This pistol was one of 1,000 shipped to the Rock Island Arsenal, Rock Island, Illinois on March 12, 1917. The left side of the slide is marked with the two line, two block 1897-1913 patent dates and address, with the Rampant Colt behind the serrations, the left side of the frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" and "MODEL OF 1911.U.S.ARMY" is marked on the right side of the slide. The right side of the frame is marked with the serial number and the left side is marked with the "circled "GHS" inspection mark of Major Gilbert H. Stewart. The barrel chamber is marked with an "H" and "P" and there is a "H" at the top of the hammer slot. Fixed sights, lanyard ring on the heel, unmarked two tone magazine and fitted with checkered walnut grips with diamond pattern around the screws.

Condition: Very fine. The pistol retains 70% original blue finish with overall thinning on the slide, wear on the forward portion of the slide and on the front bottom of the frame and high edge wear. The grip straps and grip safety have a smooth gray patina. The grips are very good with some minor wear on the lower right panel, a few minor handling marks and crisp checkering. The markings are highlighted in white and remain clear and crisp. Mechanically excellent.
