It is approx. 54” wide & features a large map of Western Europe, particularly the country of France. The map appears to be published in France, as all titles & keys are in French. / 1 French flag on a 50” wooden pole. The flag measures 17” x 23”. The tricolor flag is bit tattered on the end. / 1 White flag on a 48” wooden pole. The flag has a US Corporal stripe, star, & two overseas chevrons sewn to it. / 1 Town Son in Service banner measuring approx. 33” x 23”. The classically designed banner has a large blue star with the number “41” beneath. / 1 Presentation box for a Selective Service Medal, no medal included. / 1 Powder horn measuring 9” with silver trim & a missing silver band at the spout. / 1 M1904 leather sword hanger. / 1 Length of blue medal ribbon measuring 34”. Ribbon has a small red stripe in the center & white edges. / 1 Set of gold tassels on a gold rope. / 1 Folder containing 16 official Signal Corps war photographs of WWI with type written keys & explanations. / 1 Scrapbook containing newspaper clippings, primarily dealing with the USS Squalus disaster. / 1 Portfolio of war sketches of Charles Huard. Portfolio contains numerous sketches by the famous war artist with dedication document. / 1 Large format book measuring 24” x 18” x 2”, containing Stars and Stripes Newspapers. The title page states, in part, “This volume contains an exact reproduction of the 71 issues of ‘The Stars and Stripes’, the weekly newspaper published in France by, and for, the American Expeditionary Forces during the period from February 8, 1918 to June 13, 1919.”. CONDITION: map shows light wear. Flags generally show moderate wear. Scrapbook & sketches are a bit discolored but complete. Large book has a torn blank cover page, but newspapers show only light wear & minor discoloration. (02-19700-3/BF). $300-500.
