WWI ERA POSTERS.
1) MARINES. This poster measures 28” x 19”. It is orange, black & white, and reads “Teufel Hunden GERMAN NICKNAME FOR US Marines DEVIL DOG RECRUITING STATION 22 TREMONT ROW”. Poster depicts a bulldog with a Marine Corps helmet chasing a dachshund. CONDITION: poster shows evidence of folding but no damage. 2) DONATIONS. This poster measures 30” x 20”. It is red, white, blue, & tan. Poster reads “UNITED WE SERVE Y.M.C.A. Y.W.C.A. National Catholic War Counsil - K. of C. Jewish Welfare Board War Camp Community Service American Library Association Salvation Army United War Work Campaign $170.500.000.”. CONDITION: there are two small tears at the top and one at the bottom. 3) RED CROSS. This poster measures 28” x 20”. It is black, red & light yellow. Poster read “I summon you to the comradeship Answer the Red Cross Christmas Roll Call for Universal Membership”. Poster depicts a charcoal sketch of Woodrow Wilson with a message below. CONDITION: light overall wear. 4) WILSON. This poster measures 28” x 22”. Poster depicts a mid-chest-up view of President Woodrow Wilson wearing glasses. There is a facsimile signature below the portrait. CONDITION: portrait is slightly yellowed. 5) YMCA. This poster measures 33” x 22”. Colors are red, black & halftones. Poster depicts the YMCA logo in the upper left corner with a large portrait of General Pershing. There is lengthy text under the portrait, along with “UNITED WAR WORK CAMPAIGN NOVEMBER 11-18, 1918”. CONDITION: poster shows some yellowing. Image & text are clear. 6) RED CROSS. This poster measures 27” x 21”. Colors utilized are black, red & halftones. There is a large red cross in the upper left-hand corner with an image of a robed nurse cradling a wounded soldier on a stretcher. Below the image reads “The GREATEST MOTHER in the WORLD”. CONDITION: poster shows slight yellowing. 7) LIBERTY BONDS. A large poster measuring 43” x 28”. Colors utilized are red & black. The top of the poster has a large red right handprint with lettering below that reads “The Hun - his Mark Blot it Out with LIBERTY BONDS”. CONDITION: poster is well protected behind Plexiglas and shows only slight yellowing. (02-19507-2/BF). $400-600.
