SINGLE TRIGGER EJECTOR GAME GUN. Cal. 12 Ga. 2-3/4". S# 02049 (CA 1935). The zero prefix Westley Richards guns are actually made in house by Westley Richards, but not of "Best" quality. This certainly pertains to this gun with its 28" demi-bloc barrels fitted with low ventilated rib. "Ovundo" patent info is on left side of barrel infill and bottom flats are stamped with Birmingham nitro proofs for 2-3/4" chambers. Unusual boxlock "Ovundo" action is case hardened and fitted with ornamental sideplates. Action features automatic safety ("Safe" inlaid in gold) and single selective Westley Richards trigger. Action is engraved with about 60% coverage attractive large scroll. Top and sides of action are engraved with maker's name and top lever pivot is engraved "PATENT ONE TRIGGER". "Westley Richards" " Patent" "OVUNDO" is on floor plate. S# is on trigger guard tang. Round knob pistol grip buttstock of well figured and marbled European walnut measures 14-3/8" over black leather covered pad. Stock features drop points, point pattern checkering and silver rectangle engraved "JDB". Matching long one piece ejector forend has Deeley release. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: O .735. U .733. Restriction: O .009 (IC). U .005 (IC). Wall thickness: O .028. U .031. STOCK: DAH: 1-3/4". DAC: 1-3/8". CAST: about 1/2" off. LOP: 14-3/8". WEIGHT: 7 lb. 10 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: gun is housed in a makers leather case with brass corners embossed "J.D.B." on top which has tan canvas outer cover. Interior is lined in burgundy cloth and has Westley Richards Bournbrook address label in lid. Case contains Westley Richards marked snap caps and round oil bottle as well as cleaning equipment and copy of ledger page with specifications and date of sale March 4, 1938. CONDITION: fine as partially refinished. Barrels retaining nearly all of a re-black. Action and lockplates retain most of their original case hardening color. Floor plate and trigger guard re-blued. Stocks retain most of on old oil refinish. Checkering has not been re-cut. Bores are very fine without noted problems. Action is tight. Ejectors are in time. Case is good. Straps and handle are good.
