Volcanic carbine, 16-1/2” barrlel, .41 caliber, in fine to near excellent original condition, showing one-line New Have address, patent February 14, 1854. One of less than one thousand long arms produced, refer Flayderman 5K-019. The barrels show approx. 75-85% original blue drifting to brown with some scattered light erosion and pinprick pitting, staining, normal aging just starting. Very sharp edges, completely uncleaned. Good clear address. The frame shows 70-80% original thick silver plate that is uncleaned and shows patina where brass is exposed. The buttplate shows 40-50% darkened original silver plate, also uncleaned. The varnished wood stock is very good plus to near fine with 90% plus original varni some minor storage scratches and marks, with impeccable wood to metal fit. The original disk elevating rear sight is retained. The sight, small parts, and screws, show bright original blue with most of the fire blue on the lifter. The hammer and lever show considerable original color. The action is good, interior very good. A completely uncleaned and untouched volcanic carbine that would be hard to improve upon and very expensive. Est: $45,000-90,000
