Virginia Manufactory Cavalry saber marked on top back edge of spine “1, VA Reg.” with blade reduced to 34” denoting Civil War use. The sword remains in original good un-cleaned condition showing a brown patina finish with some light to moderatescattered erosion and surface pitting. The wood grip is good and is devoid of wire wrap with just some normal aging and use. The guard shows one series of cutouts on one side which is a variation that is known on this model. William A.
