Vintage Cloverleaf Style Western Spurs
This lot includes a set of vintage cloverleaf style western spurs. As the name implies, this blunt-edged rowel resembles a cloverleaf. The lack of points makes it one of the mildest rowel configurations available. It is great for a horse that merely needs a tap to reinforce your leg cue. The shank is a touch longer than the roper-style spur, but still qualifies as a short shank. Such shanks require less leg control (to avoid inadvertently jabbing your horse) than spurs with longer shanks. These spurs were good for rookie riders and rookie horses, or those horses that are real “feely” (reactive to leg and spur pressure). These spurs have brass rowels and brass buttons on the leather straps. The leather straps are marked 2169, but that is the only mark on these spurs. The spurs are in good condition; the leather straps show wear and damage due to age and use. The spurs are 4 1/2" long, 3" wide and the rowel is 3/4".
