Featured in this lot is a pair of cowboy batwing chaps made by Victor Ario Saddlery Company of Great Falls circa mid 1900s. Victor Ario immigrated to the United States from Austria, and moved to Great Falls, MT in 1891. When Victor Ario arrived in Great Falls, MT he went to work for J. B. Steffen and Tom Moreland where he worked as a saddle maker applying the trade he had learned in Austria from his Father. By 1903, Victor Ario was sole owner of the Victor Ario Saddlery Company which over the coming years led to big success. The chaps show a grey color with a black waist band that has the makers mark stamped into the leather reading, "Victor Ario Saddlery Great Falls, Montana". They feature three metal and leather conchos on each side with each side showing a stitched leather "HP" patch, possibly a ranch or farm the owner worked at. The chaps show good condition with wear from their age and use but no signs of obvious damage are present. They measures 39 " L x 16 1/2" W.
