Very interesting Japanese Arisaka bolt-action Type 99 military rifle, 7.7mm cal., 26” barrel, military blue finish, full wood stock, sling swivels, aircraft sights, #44056. This rifle is in overall very goodcondition showing considerable military blue on metal surfaces, mum present with full Japanese characters, very good bore, crisp action, very good markings, overall good wood with scattered wear, mars, dings andscratches from carry and storage. Accompanying this gun is a wood shipping box and two WW II American GI dog tags for Sgt. John D. Boyce; accompanied by a wood shipping box with Sgt. Boyce’s military address inSan Francisco, CA and shipping the box to his wife at their home in Memphis, TN. By the return address, it appears Boyce was with the H&S Co. of the 1777 Engineers. Would be great to further research this soldier andhis WW II activities as this appears to be a war trophy as the mum has not been ground as ordered of most surrendered Japanese rifles per General MacArthur.
