Very interesting Bowie style knife by W. Richardson, approx. 14” overall with an approx. 8-3/4” blade showing medium patina, small upturned/downturned guard, lovely round stag grip with iron round “button” pommel;accompanied by a fitted leather scabbard with metal throat and tip in overall good condition. There is a monogram etched into one side of the throat and the initials “W.C.C.” on the other side of the throat;affixed to the stag grip is a plain unadorned silver shield. Accompanying this item is documentation from well-known English knife dealer David Johnstone describing this piece and indicating the knife was originallypurchased by Michael Long of Trident Arms, of Nottingham, England, from an English descendant of a W.C. Claybourne who claimed her relation had worked for the Abilene-Hays City-Kansas City & Missouri (Railroad) andhad been a “colleague of the Clantons of OK Corral notoriety”.
