Very early Colt pre-war Woodsman .22 caliber semi-automatic pistol with 6 ½” barrel, blued finish, checkered wood grips, serial number 7. The 2nd lowest serial number in the Kiser collection and this particular Colt Woodsmanwas shipped to F. C. Nichols – office, Colts Patent Firearms Company Hartford, Connecticut on May 31, 1916 with one gun in shipment and under remarks “the records indicate subject pistol was returned to the factory on June22, 1916. The firearm was subsequently returned to Mr. Nichols on June 28, 1916. It is of further interest to note that Mr. Nichols was employed by Colt and he was the Vice President in 1921”. The factory letteris addressed to John Guest former president of Colt Collectors Association and a well-recognized old-time collector of Colt Woodsman pistols. This Colt retains 90% to 95% original early bright high polish bluefinish with some slight scratches and minor handling also a couple of areas of beginning minor erosion. The grips are at least very good plus to near fine with just slight darkening and minor handling. This Woodsman
