This variant of the scarce Warner Carbine was manufactured by the Greene Rifle Works and were made for James Warner's 2nd contract of 2,500. The left side of the frame is marked "GREENE RIFLE WORKS / WORCHESTER, MASS. / PAT. FEB. 1864" and the serial number is marked on the top edge of the frame under the breechblock. Pinched blade front and folding leaf rear sight graduated to 800 yards, blue barrel, brass frame with ejector lever mounted ahead of the trigger, saddle ring bar and ring mounted on the left side of the frame and mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a brass carbine buttplate.

Condition: Fair. The metal has a dark brown patina overall with some extensive pitting present on the muzzle and at the barrel band. The fine attractive brass has a dark natural aged patina and has crisp markings. The wood is fair with a spliced vertical narrow wood piece on the left side at the butt running from the heel to the toe. The left edge of the butt shows a number of minor chips and there is a crack extending from the butt forward. The markings are clear. The action is fine.
