This is a very nice example of an earlier WWII Nazi K98 rifle that has been fitted with the long-eye relief ZF41 rifle scope that is complete with the two sun shields and scope can. This ZF41 scope provided approximately 1.5 power magnification for the more advanced shooters in the Wehrmacht, with the long-eye-relief providing a greater field of view while in use on the battlefield. This example has the desirable dual coded receiver of "bcd/ar" indicating that rifle has a receiver manufactured at the Gustloff factory in Weimar, that was sent to the Mauser Werke factory in Borsigwald for final assembly into a K98 rifle. The top of the receiver is marked with the eagle 26 Waffenamt proof over "bcd/ar" over "43" for the year of manufacture, with the side wall having the standard "Model 98" markings. The rear of the barrel has the markings of a small "ar" proof next to, "134 43 cyw" with the eagle firing proof on the rear of the barrel and the receiver. This rifle has the correct all milled barrel bands, trigger guard and floor plate without any additional proof marks. The barrel has the standard inverted "V" front sight blade with the tangent rear sight graduated from 1-20 (100-2000) meters. The rifle is fitted with an unmarked wartime laminated, pistol grip stock and hand guard with a cupped sheet metal buttplate. The scope is a proper wartime ZF41 that is marked on the scope tube, "3041/jve/Z F 41" with the side of the mount marked with the "duv" code for the Berlin-Lubecker factory with a single eagle 214 Waffenamt. The rear arm of the mount has had the serial numbered "4218/c", milled into it. The rifle is complete with a smooth brown leather sling, blued cleaning rod, rubber muzzle cover and sheet metal front sight cover. The scope is complete with an original wartime green metal scope can. The side of the can carries the makers code of "jvb" with serial number "2579k".

Also the rear edge of the front barrel band and the front edge of the rear barrel band show several nicks or gouges in various areas from an old improper disassembly of the rifle. The stock and hand guard both show a nice matching medium brown finish overall with light handling marks, scratches and pressure dents from field use in various area with heavier gouges on the under side of the stock directly behind the pistol grip.
