The breech is marked "U.S./MODEL/1873". Pinned blade front sight with hood and "R" marked Buffington rear sight. The left rear of the barrel is marked with the "V/P/Eagle head/P" proof and inspector marks, with an "A" on top. Blue finish with casehardened breechblock and upper tang. Three click tumbler and mounted with a one-piece stock with metal forend cap, two barrel bands, slotted button head cleaning rod and steel "U.S." marked buttplate without compartment. "SWP/1886" cartouche on the left wrist and circled script "P" and "D" on the underside behind the trigger guard.

Condition: Very fine. The rifle retains 90% original blue finish with a patch of minor pitting on the rear top barrel, as well as scattered flaking. There is a smooth brown patina on the exposed areas. The breechblock retains 75% plus original case colors. The stock is good. There is a gouge on top of the wrist and a couple smaller gouges on the comb, and a couple of hairline cracks on the right side of the wrist at the lower tang, otherwise some scattered minor dents and handling marks and sharp cartouche. The markings are clear. The action is excellent.
