Very Fine Deluxe Marlin Model 1889 Lever Action Rifle
The Model 1889 was manufactured from 1889 to 1899 with this particular scarce deluxe rifle made circa 1890. The top barrel flat is marked "MARLIN FIRE - ARMS CO., NEW- HAVEN, CT. U.S.A. / PATENTED OCT. 11, 1887. APRIL. 2, 1889" with pointing arrows on the top line, "44W" is marked at the breech, "MARLIN SAFETY" on top of the receiver and the serial number is marked on the bottom of the receiver. The rifle is equipped with a German silver blade front, adjustable ladder rear sights. The barrel was blue and the remaining parts casehardened. Mounted with extra fancy hand checkered American walnut forearm and pistol grip stock with an iron forend cap and crescent buttplate. This was Marlin's first solid top, side eject rifle with a total production of about 55,000.

Condition: Very fine. The barrel retains 70% original blue finish with some light spotting and high edge wear. The magazine has a smooth mottled brown patina with strong original finish in the protected areas. The receiver also retains 70% original blue finish with some brown streaks on each side and areas of smooth brown patina. The wood is also very fine with almost all of the original finish remaining and overall scattered minor dents and scratches. The markings remain crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
