VIETNAM ERA SPECIAL FORCES GROUP.
1) A dress uniform belonging to Sergeant 1st Class Ray Green, attached to the “5th SPECIAL FORCES GROUP A KONTUM, RVN 64”. The uniform has 1st Sergeant stripes with a US Army Special Forces Airborne Arrowhead Patch with Airborne tab above on the left sleeve. The right sleeve has a Military Assistance Command Patch with a Ranger tab above. The shoulder straps have green tabs with Special Forces DIs attached. Under the left strap is a green beret with South Vietnamese flash & embroidered Special Forces DI. The left shoulder has a green & red aiguilette, and the right shoulder has a light blue aiguilette. The right breast has Vietnamese Jump Wings and a Meritorious Unit Commendation, Vietnam Presidential Unit Citation, Republic of Vietnam Civil Actions Unit Citation, and an Army Superior Unit Award. On the pocket is a MAC SOG Death’s head patch. Uniform has Special Forces collar discs. The left breast has a CIB with ribbons for the Distinguished Service Medal, Silver Star, Soldier’s Medal, Bronze Star with oak leaf, Meritorious Service Medal, Purple Heart with two oak leaves, Army Commendation with three oak leaves, Prisoner of War Medal, Good Conduct Medal with three subsequent awards, National Defense Medal, Republic of Vietnam Service Medal with three stars, & Vietnam Campaign Medal. Below the ribbons is an Expert Rifle and Pistol Badge, Jump Wings with flash, and a Jungle Expert Patch. 2) A group of 5 berets in black, dark green, and blue. Two of the black berets have ranger tabs, and one has a DI that reads “RANGERS LEAD THE WAY”. The green beret and blue beret have no insignia. 3) ID cards belonging to SFC Ray Green and one other individual. 4) A plaque with a Special Forces insignia with an engraved plate below that reads “SFC RAY GREEN 5th SFG-A KONTUM, RVN 64”. 5) A fatigue uniform with pants. The left sleeve has a US Army Special Forces Airborne Arrowhead Patch with Airborne tab above. The right sleeve has a Military Assistance Command Patch. There are cloth Vietnamese Senior Jump Wings above the right pocket and a Paratrooper Patch with tiger below. Above the left pocket is a 2-award CIB Badge, Senior Jump Wings, and “US ARMY” patch. The center of the uniform has a gold 5-petal blossom with a gold bar below. 6) Two award plaques, the first of which reads “PRESENTED TO CAPT HAROLD T. PALMER THANKS FOR A JOB WELL DONE FROM THE OFFICERS AND MEN OF THE COMMAND LIAISON DETACHMENT 5th SPECIAL FORCES GROUP AIRBORNE VIETNAM 1969”. The second reads “PRESENTED TO CAPT PALMER, HAROLD FROM THE OFFICERS AND MEN CO, B. 5th SFG (ABN) 1st SF PLEIKU, RVN 1970”. CONDITION: uniforms show light wear overall, and the awards/patches show no damage. Berets show light wear. Plaques have a few scratches. (02-20940/BF). $500-800.
