ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT. This eclectic lot includes 2 Vietnam War era bicycles, reportedly used by North Vietnamese troops during the war for general transportation. The bicycles have a number of unconventional repairs and both have tall bamboo poles attached to the bicycles. There is one later bicycle brought back from Vietnam that likely dates from the 1990’s and is made of steel & bamboo with rattan supporting wraps. Other items include 1 round woven rattan peasant hat. / 2 NVA pith helmets. / 1 NVA visor cap. / 2 NVA flags. / 1 Vietcong helmet. / 1 Bicycle pump. / 1 NVA scarf. / 1 Gas mask. / 1 Enamel rice bowl & spoon. / 4 NVA belts & buckles. / 1 NVA backpack. / 1 NVA canteen. / 1 Opium pipe. / 1 NVA practice grenade. / 4 Empty NVA medal boxes. / 4 Framed NVA medals, two of which have original certificates. / 1 Wooden pack saddle. / Photographs of Glenn Mattox with the NVA Veteran who was awarded the medals. CONDITION: the NVA bicycles are quite rusted but appear to be functional. The tires are present but flat. The newer bicycle shows light overall wear.
