TARGET RIFLE. Cal. 22 LR. S# E1124. Bbl. 30 5/8" target with integral receiver. Mfg. 1943 having "V/43" on bottom of bbl. near receiver along with "69574". Classic British target rifle mfg. using Martini action. Top left front of receiver numbered E1124 along with 2 British proofs. Breech block and left side of trigger housing numbered "S1124". French walnut stock having "swollen" and checkered forend of Parker Hale (PH) Dewar style; fitted with sling eyes (rear purposefully off to the side for better carry balance) plus numbered "12104" behind pistol grip. Bottom of forend near trigger housing has brass container with screw top having 6 spare front sight inserts. Front globe target sight is Parker Hale Model 2; rear is PH 7A "Perfection" peep sight with vernier scales, variable aperture sight disk and through hole for rear access of cleaning rod while trigger housing is removed. LOP: 13 1/2" over English style smooth orange recoil pad and when advertised, stated they were guaranteed to group 1 1/2" or less at 100 yards. This model used to win many pre WWII rifle matches in England. Pistol grip and lever design were to enhance "Skirisher Shooting" use. Many were later relined with PH liners to restore accuracy; this one is not. Right side has thumb screw that allows easy disassembly for cleaning or case transporting. CONDITION: very light marks and slight high point wear on metal; mostly near muzzle. Numerous stock handling marks plus pad evenly proud of stock. All finishes are original. Very good case colors on lever. Patina on thumbscrew takedown and insert holder. Near excellent bore. (23-358/NW). CURIO. $350-500.
