BOLT ACTION MILITARY RIFLE WITH INTACT "MUM". Cal. 7.7 Jap. S# 85045. S#s match on receiver, bolt and bayonet lug. Bbl. 25 1/2". Receiver is marked on top with "Mum". No Type 99 characters are present. Left side of receiver has Kokura Arsenal interlocking circles. This nice example is in very good condition showing little use. Fixed aperture rear sight. Inverted V front sight. Oval bolt knob. Welded notch safety knob. Fixed upper band with bayonet lug. Solid lower band without provision for monopod. Hardwood stock set with 2 piece buttstock construction. Short hand guard. Two piece forend construction. Large recoil bolt. Two screw butt swivel. Flat wooden buttplate. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: late type 15 5/8" bayonet Bayonet marked on right ricasso with National Denki and Kokura Arsenal marks. Straight cross guard. Hardwood grips secured with 2 rivets. Pommel has slight birds head. Scabbard is leather covered wood with integral rubberized canvas frog. Bayonet is in very good condition retaining most of its original finish. Grips have light wear and staining. Scabbard has staining and wear retaining a good appearance. CONDITION: stock set has original finish with light wear and scattered handling marks. Wood shows notable sanding and tool marks. Metal retains 75% original finish with thinning, light wear and patina. Very good shiny bore. PROVANANCE: the Collection of Curtis H Halvorson.
