RIFLE. Cal. 7.62mm. S# 000347. Bbl. 25.25" over flash hider with bayonet lug. Consignor supplied information estimates production as approx. August 1972. Very early Springfield Armory M1A rifle, built in Devine, Texas by Springfield Armory as owned by Elmer Balance, prior to being sold to Bob Reese & relocating to Geneseo, Illinois. Receiver marked; "U.S. RIFLE / 7.62-MM M1A / SPRINGFIELD / ARMORY" above serial number 000347. Barrel marked "NM" on top, 2.5" rear of flash hider & "RT1 BX210 / DEVINE TX" on bottom, just forward of gas block as well as "S.A. 7791362 9 63 SD 13 RW" w/ DOD stamp "P". Protected, tapered blade front sight marked "NM062". Rear sight marked "NM / 2A" w/ peep marked "595". Bolt marked "7790186 / 66118-KK". Trigger housing marked "7267030SA". Hammer marked "SA 5546008". USGI M14 stock, bedded at trigger housing & receiver. Marked w/ stamp"P" in circle on pistol grip. Serial number stamped in barrel channel & handguard. Tan canvas sling. MAGS: 1 steel Check-Mate 10rd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Black plastic foam lined case, photo of Data Sheet for rifle matching all visible markings. CONDITION: Finish complete & consistent w/ some light thinning in areas of mechanical intervention. Action lightly coated w/ grease. All markings filled white for easy reading. Stock in very nice condition w/ only a few normal impressions. Bright bore w/ strong rifling. Fire control mechanism appears to function correctly when cycled by hand. (23-5438/JZ).
