Unusual and possibly unique Hopkins and Allen XL Derringer in .41 caliber rimfire showing extra-long 30 ¼” barrel. The bore is smooth and intended for shot. The barrel appears to been made originally to this length and shows no evidence of being sleeved. The extractor is broken and the front sight groove was filled with a brass plug probably at time of manufacture. The metal surfaces show a gray patina and the frame shows traces of silverthat has darkened. The grips are very good plus and the number is under the grips. A very interesting and odd American 19th century single shot pistol. Est.: $350-$700.
