Unusual D-guard fighting knife from Civil War era, stamped "R Bunting and Sons Cutlers to Their Majesties" on blade and "Manufactured by R Bunting and Sons Sheffield" stamped on ricasso. The blade measures 9", the knife is 13-1/2" overall with a staghorn grip and German silver guard and plaque. The blade is of an unusual configuration with a beavertail style spear point, showing a pronounced curve. The blade is finely madeand precision ground. The blade shows most of its original polish and its full dimensions with some staining and erosion, minor pitting, but no cleaning. The grips are very good. No scabbard. Est.:$1,250-$2,500
