Unmarked Confederate Civil War Calvary saber with brass mounted original scabbard in untouched and un-cleaned as found “out-of-the-attic” condition. The sword measures 41” overall with 35” blade showing unstopped fuller and poor Confederatemetal forging with cracks, striations and porosity in the steel. The grip shows a single wire Confederate wrap with most of the original leather covering missing exposing the wood grip which shows a few small losses but generally good. The three branch guard shows Confederate shape and style with a great patina and the blade has never been removed from the hilt. The scabbard shows a deep brown patina with Confederate style brass mounts for hanging rings. The scabbard shows crude manufacture and is definitely genuine Confederate of the era and fits this sword. William A. Gary collection consigned by his estate. Est.: $1000-$2000
