Unique Original One of Nine Harrington and Richardson/Line Material Company Presentation M1 Garand Rifle with Documentation

This is a beautiful like new M1 Garand rifle as originally manufactured by the Harrington and Richardson Arms (H&R) company in 1955, that was "One of Nine" such M1 Garand that were presented to senior executives of the three major commercial producers of the M1 Garand rifles during the Korean War; those being, the H&R Arms Company, International Harvester Company and the Line Material Company. This specific example has been identified as being presented to Daniel P. Leach, Senior Contract Negotiator for the "Line Material Company". As we all know the Line Material Company was a major producer of both M1 Carbine and M1 Garand barrels during and after the Korean war. Their barrels were and are still, considered to be the best M1 Garand barrels ever produced, with the USMC using these in many of their National Match M1 rifles. The unique aspect of this rifle that further helps validate this rifle as being original, is the fact that the rear of the receiver has been engraved with the following "1955" over a circled "H&R Inc" logo on the left side with a circled, inverted triangle with "LM" inside, signifying the Line Material Company. Below all the markings it is engraved "ONE OF NINE", indicating that there were "9" rifles total presented to various executives. The top of the receiver heel is roll-marked in three lines "U.S. RIFLE/CAL .30 M1/H&R ARMS CO." with the "&" being a unique character unlike what is normally found on H&R made M1 rifles. It is fitted with a brand new LMR manufactured M1 Garand barrel. The side of the barrel is marked "LMR D6535448 8 55 A43" followed by a "P and M" proofmarks. It is currently fitted with an IHC marked trigger housing with all the remaining parts being original H&R manufactured. The stock and handguard are all H&R manufactured and in brand new condition. Just a small point in that this is a company presentation rifle not a U.S. Army accepted rifle. So the wood components are correctly unproofed and uncartouched. This rifle comes with several letters between the original owner and consignor and it was also written up in Volume 6, Issue 2 of the "Grand Collectors Association". This article is a fascinating read and provided additional inside and background on the Line Material Company. The rifle itself looks absolutely in like new condition with a beautiful set of all walnut stock and handguard set.
