Unique Japanese Marked Brass Triple Barrel Percussion Pistol
Produced during the 1800s, this unique percussion pistol features a frame and three barrels made from one solid piece of brass. Outfitted with cannon muzzles, a single tapered cone sight is mounted in line with the center hammer, and a ramrod is secured with pipes to the underside. The left side bears an indistinct proof or maker's mark. On top of the frame is a blue steel lock plate, with the three hammers and three triggers, with the right trigger straight and the middle and left triggers curved for ease of access. Checkered one piece bag shaped grip, with sunburst designs near the frame, checkering on the sides and a series of Japanese characters running down the back. These characters or symbols are custom stampings which are often found on Japanese weapons, including imports, suggesting this arm was produced in Europe and later brought into Japan.
