This is a 1920's assembled U.S. export example of a DWM commercial Model 1908 serial range pistol with American Eagle Chamber Crest. These Lugers were manufactured expressly for sale in the U.S., with the distinctive "American Eagle" crest with the DWM marked toggle. The barrel extension, barrel underside and left side of the breech block and toggle assembly have a commercial "Crown N" proof with the left frame rail marked "GERMANY". Has correct polished lower safety area on the old style frame that was later converted into a coil spring action and then had the grip safety removed. The extractor is still correctly marked "LOADED". Fitted with the short late style fat barrel chambered in 7.65mm Luger. Numbered in the commercial style with full serial number (62889) stamped on the underside of the barrel and front of the frame with the last two digits of the serial number (89) stamped on the various small parts with exception of safety lever which is numbered "17" and the side plate which is "39" (not 89 as it appears at first glance). The walnut grips that have smooth border around the edge with checkering only in the center section of the grip. Complete with one unnumbered wooden base nickel plated magazine and a post-war Belgium Browning black leather holster.

Condition: Very good as assembled with 60% of the faded, refurbished overall, showing wear overall. The various small parts retain traces of their straw colors. The grips are period replacements and are very good with distinct checkering on both sides. The holster is poor with nice tight stitching overall.
