Manufactured from the late 1830s to the 1850s, this pistol has two features that make it unique among other small frame Blunt & Syms pepperboxes; the muzzle of the barrel cluster is beveled, and a finger rest spur is mounted on the lower part of the front grip strap. Finished in high polish blue finish on the scroll engraved frame and 5-shot fluted barrel cluster. Bag shaped two piece walnut grips featuring a high gloss piano finish and German silver screw escutcheons. Matching numbers on the frame and muzzle, with "3" on the pin of barrel cluster, and the head of the barrel cluster screw. The face of the barrel cluster is also marked "R-C". In a partitioned wooden case with green velvet lining, powder flask, two cavity bullet mold/ multi-tool, iron loading/cleaning rod, cast balls and key.

Condition: Fine, with 40% original blue on the barrel cluster, strongest in the flutes with the balance a smooth gray patina. The frame and trigger have been cleaned bright with scattered faint pin point pitting. Grips are fine as revarnished, with a few mild dings. The case is fine with some light handling marks and a loose left hinge (needs work). The lining shows some mild wear. Accessories are in fine or better condition.
