For your consideration is a collection of unique, antique Venetian Chevron trade beads. The first two Chevron trade beads are a very large six layer beads. The first measures 2 3/8" X 3/4" and the second measures 1 7/8" X 3/4". The first bead is hardly carved at all, showing mostly the outer blue color and only the layers on the ends. The second bead is highly carved, showing white, blue, and red on the outside. The next two beads are large disks of six layers. These disks measure 1" X 1/4" and 7/8" X 1/4". These disks are six layered, with white, blue, white, red, white, blue layers. The next two beads are seven layer square beads. The larger bead measures 3/4" X 5/8" X 5/8" and the small one measures 1/2" X 3/8” X 3/8". The next beads are small six layer square beads; the larger bead measures 1/2" X 1/2" X 1/2" and the smaller one is 3/8" X 3/8" X 3/8". The next two beads are six layer tubes, measuring 7/8" X 1/4" and 6/8" X 1/4". The last group of beads is fourteen four layer tubes and one disk. The disk is 3/8" X 1/4". The fourteen tube beads measure from 1 1/4" to 3/8" long by 3/8" to 1/4" wide. Chevrons beads are made by a multi-part process. Chevron beads, also called "Rosetta" and "Star" beads, have been made in Venice since the late 1400's The Venetian Chevron production with the highest volume of beads was in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Chevron beads have been traded throughout the world. These beads are in fair to good condition, with some appearing to be quite old.
