USN Winchester Second Model Hotchkiss Bolt Action Rifle
Also known as the Hotchkiss Magazine Gun or the Model 1883, this was the first bolt action made by Winchester. Blade front and "ski-slope" tangent rear sights, with "WWK/ R/ US/(anchor)", "HN." and "V/ P/ (eagle head)" marked at the rear. The receiver is marked on the left wall with the serial number and "HN" on top, and the three line address and patent dates on the side, and is equipped with a straight bolt and safety and magazine cutoff switches. Smooth straight grip stock, with "J" stamped behind the trigger guard, "W4" in faint white on the right side of the buttstock, brown leather sling stamped "59" and a smooth metal buttplate.

Condition: Very fine, with 50% of the original blue finish, showing areas of gray and brown patina, light scratches and scattered dings. Stock is fine, with a small amount of chipping at the toe, mild pressure dents and scratches overall. Light cracks and scuffs on the leather. Mechanically excellent. It is difficult to fine these martially inspected USN Winchester Hotchkiss rifles in this fine of condition!
