United States Historical Society highly embellished reproduction of the Colt Walker percussion revolver, commemorating the life of Sam Houston, 1793-1863, for the Texas Sesquicentennial of 1986. Features high polished blued finish, 9" barrel, blade front sight, 'v' notched rear sight on the hammer, unfluted six-shot cylinder with oval stops, loading lever, square back triggerguard, one-piece smooth walnut grip. The revolver is elaborately decorated with 24kt gold accents that commemorate the Alamo, Battle of San Jacinto, the Texas state flag, and other related symbols. A coin medallion with likeness of Sam Houston is inset on the left side of the butt. Includes a locking walnut presentation case (no key provided) with leather inset panel & brass rivet accents, bullet mold, cap box, nipple wrench, powder flask. Overall condition of revolver is like new with few signs of handling. Presentation case is fair to good condition with some tarnish to brass rivets, scratches to wood, chips out of bottom corners, slight gapping of wood panels on lid.
