The lot features an excedingly rare set of original photographs from Lewis Franklin Biggs circa 1910-1912. Lewis Franklin Biggs was the Head of USGS in Washington DC, appointed by Teddy Roosevelt, circa 1910-1912. These were taken by Lewis Franklin Biggs during his survey of the West from the Mojave Desert to Mount Whitney in circa 1904-1912. The photographs include various original rare scenes from the Native American Indians including the only photograph known to exist depicting the White Deer River Dance of the Hopi Indians on Klaukol River, CA. These rare photographs are applied in two black photo books with many being noted by hand and dated below. The books are in good overall condition. Each one measures 6" x 7.75".
