For bidding in this lot is a finely sporterized version of the US made Eddystone Enfield, chambered in .30-06. It is a bolt-action Mauser Style rifle, with some Lee-Enfield features to provide a more rapid fire. The need for additional small arms combined with a shortage of spare industrial capacity led the British government to contract with United States commercial arms manufacturers, Winchester, Remington and Eddystone (a subsidiary of Remington set up principally to manufacture the P14) to produce the P14 for the British before the US entered the war in 1917. This example features a fine adjustment rear peep sight, paired with a blade Redfield front sight, 5-round stripper fed magazine, sporterized deluxe walnut stock with cheek piece, contrasted by an exceptional 23" blue'd barrel, and polished bolt. The rifle is marked in numerous places, reading; "U.S. Model of 1917 Eddystone" on the receiver in front of the bolt, and a flaming bomb on the bolt handle. This rifle shows very-good condition, with only light handling marks to the deluxe walnut fixtures, and a fantastic blue'd finish. The rifle also shows a tight action, and a good bore, showing strong rifling with some darkness. Serial Number: 210374. This rifle Qualifies as a Curio & Relic Long Gun, and requires FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.
