US Mississippi rifle by Harper’s Ferry Arsenal dated 1854, bored out to .58 caliber with rear sight added (original rear sight missing, replaced with v-notch sight, 3” to the rear of the original sight area. Thebarrel shows a dark patina with scattered erosion and pinprick pitting, the lockplate and hammer show a grayish patina with faint traces of case hardening and excellent markings. The stock has been lightly cleanedand sanded and shows two marks over the right side of the triggerguard area. There is a large gouge behind the hammer with a chip of wood missing. There is some wood missing behind the hammer from firing. There arelosses along the ramrod channel and no ramrod is included. The ramrod is good, stock fair to good with nipple inside patchbox. A reenactor’s type sling is included. An old blade sight has been added to be used withthe v-notch rear. Just a trace of rifling in the bore. Dr. Sterling Fenn collection. Est: $800 - $1,600
