U.S. Springfield trapdoor rifle with socket bayonet and metal scabbard, .45-70 cal., 32-1/2” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, full length wood stock, #274855. This gun is in overall good condition showingconsiderable use, brown patina on barrel, traces of case colors on the trapdoor, hammer and lock plate, very good bore, crisp action, good markings; wood is re-finished with lots of scattered nicks, mars, scratches and some old losses along the rails from years of carry and storage; right and left sides of butt stock stamped “R&M” which may denote its coming from a movie prop armory; bayonet is U.S. marked and in the bright;scabbard is brown with traces of muted original blue and some areas of surface rust from storage; should be further researched.
