U.S. Springfield trapdoor rifle, dated 1870 on the trapdoor with eagle over crossed arrows and US, .50 cal., 29-3/4” barrel, two barrel bands, wood stock, #1909 on left side of barrel at breech and same number adjacenton the frame. This gun is in overall very good condition with the barrel showing a light grey patina over pin prick pitting, dark patina on receiver and lockplate, good bore, crisp action, sharp markings, very good wood stock with some scattered mars and scratches from storage; top of butt plate stamped “A 13”; may be a Cadet or Cadet Variation rifle; should be further researched.
