U.S. Springfield trapdoor rifle, .45-70 cal., 32-1/2” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, wood stock, iron ramrod, #276295. This gun is in overall good condition showing a brown patina on the barrel and silverytoning case hardening on the receiver, lock plate and hammer; very good bore, crisp action, sharp markings, proofs to left side of the breech area of the barrel; wood stock shows numerous nicks, mars, scratches andsome old losses at the rails of the fore stock, “R&M” stamped on both sides of the butt stock; the stock shows scattered traces of an old re-varnish; would be interesting to research the possible identity of themarkings on the stock; possibly a movie prop. gun or ?
