Hooded blade front and "R" marked Buffington rear sights, with the rear of the barrel marked "A" on top and "V / P / Eagle head / P" on the upper left. Low-arch breechblock, marked "US / MODEL / 1884", with the Eagle/Shield motif next to "U.S. / SPRINGFIELD" on the lock plate. Smooth straight grip stock, with two "U" marked barrel bands, script "P" the triggerguard, and a "US" marked buttplate. With a 16 1/2 inch ramrod bayonet, screw-on ramrod head, and a "U.S./ MOD.1879" marked multitool.

Condition: Excellent, with 90% of the original blue finish, showing some light handling marks and spotting overall, as well as areas of brown patina concentrated on the barrel bands and the tang rear of the triggerguard. The finish on the ramrod has taken on a streaked blue and gray appearance. 75% case colors are present on the breechblock, strongest on the underside, with some fading to a gray patina. Stock is very fine, with dents and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
