U.S. Springfield Trapdoor Model 1873 rifle, 45-70 cal., 32” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, wood stock, #466289. This gun is in overall very good condition showing approx. 90% original blue on barrel and lockplate with the loss in one area on top of the barrel midpoint that appears to have been cleaned at one time; approx. 95%+ original case colors on the trapdoor; excellent bore, markings and action; wood is very good with some scattered dings and mars but nothing objectionable and sharp circle “P” proof and inspector’s cartouche “SWP 1889”. A fine example with socket bayonet. Est.: $600-$1,200.
