This is a nice example of a completely original Springfield Model 1922 M1 NRA bolt action rifle Manufactured from 1924 through 1933. The barrel is marked "SA" over the ordnance shell and flame and dated "8-26". The top of the receiver ring is marked "U.S./ SPRINGFIELD/ ARMORY/ M1922 / MI. CAL..22" over the serial number. The rifle has a Lyman 48C micrometer rear sight and a raised globe front sight, with the top of the barrel and receiver ring fitted with scope mounting bases. The rifle is equipped with a Lyman 438-Field scope with adjustable scope ring. This rifle is listed in F. Mallory's Summary of DCM Rifle Sales, 1922-1942, as an NRA Model 1922 sold in 1927. This reference identifies only 1,863 DCM rifle sales for all variations of the Model 1922. A copy of the Ordnance Bill of Sale also accompanies the rifle. Mounted with a one piece smooth American black walnut pistol grip stock with checkered steel buttplate and leather Hoyt, 1917 dated military sling. The accompanying Springfield Research Service letter identifies this rifle as a "U.S. Cal. 22 M1922 M1 N.R.A"., sold by Springfield Armory, Mass. to an individual in Alaska on July 27, 1927.

Condition: Very fine. The barrel has faded to a smooth brown patina with 60% original blue finish in the protected area along the edge of the forearm. The receiver retains 95% original blue finish with some thinning to brown, and some minor spotting. The stock has been re-oiled and remains very fine with only a couple of minor dings. The scope is very fine with 90% original thinning blue finish and clear optics. The sling is excellent. A nice example of a completely original Springfield Model 1922 NRA Model rifle.
