Hooded blade and ladder sights, with "SA/ 12-17" dated barrel the typical WWI production features which include a Type "S" stock with grasping grooves, two reinforcing bolts and smooth buttplate. Standard receiver markings, with a "R" marked cocking piece. Stock is equipped with a brown leather sling and a flat buttplate with storage compartment door. A scope rail is mounted to the left side of the receiver with 2 screws, and carrying a Warner & Swasey Model 1913 Telescopic Musket Sight, 5.2x power with a brass body, black lacquer finish, adjustable base and rubber eyecup, marked "TELESCOPIC MUSKET SIGHT/ MODEL OF 1913 No. 422/ THE WARNER & SWASEY CO./ CLEVELAND OHIO, U.S.A/ PAT. FEB.13-06. MAY 22-06.DEC.15-08.". The Springfield Model 1903 rifles equipped with 1908 and 1913 W-S Telescopic Sights were the first sniper rifles issued by the U.S. Army. The Army purchased 5,041 W-S Telescopic Sights and many W-S Sniper Rifles were issued to the American Expeditionary Force in France during WWI. With a russet leather scope case, multi-tool, green canvas cartridge belt and 1917 dated manual.

Condition: Very good as assembled with an arsenal refurbish barreled action with 90% parkerized finish remaining. The trigger guard is reblued with pitting under the finish. The reproduction stock is sanded and varnished, with minimal pressure dents. Leather is cracked and scuffed, canvas shows mild wear. Scope retains 60% of the lacquer finish, with the optics showing a large number of spots but otherwise clear. The mount needs three proper screws fitted to the mounting rail as all hardware and gunsmithing has been done to allow scope to be added.
