Blade front and Buffington rear sights, with the rear of the barrel marked "A" on top and "V / P / eagle head / P" on the upper left. Low-arch breechblock marked "US / MODEL / 1873" with the eagle/shield motif next to "U.S. / SPRINGFIELD" on the lock plate. Smooth straight grip stock, with two "U" marked barrel bands, clear "SWP / 1886" cartouche and "U.S." marked buttplate. With cleaning rod.

Condition: Very fine. The rifle retains 90% original blue finish showing some speckling of gray and a few areas of gray which expose some extensive patches of deep pitting (mostly on the barrel). The breechblock and upper tang retain 98% original case colors. The stock is very fine with some scattered minor dings and scratches with a series of minor handling marks ahead of the clear and crisp cartouche. Mechanically excellent.
